Bardia National Park, which was established in 1988 is the largest and most protected area in Nepal and is home to the endangered Royal Bengal Tiger and Nepal’s famous one-horned rhinoceros.
The park hosts 53 different animals, more than 400 species of birds, and several varieties of reptiles and aquatic animals. Some of the other animals found here are elephant, swamp deer, black buck, Gharial Crocodile and marsh mugger crocodile. The fresh-water Gangetic dolphin is also commonly seen in River Karnali. Birds include endangered varieties of Bengal florican, lesser florican, silver-eared mesia and saruscrane. The park also offers the rare opportunity of angling at River Karnali and River Babai.
The best time to visit the park is during autumn, winter and early summer when the weather is warm and dry. Bardia can be reached by road via Nepaljung or Surkhet from where the park can be driven to.
Several safari lodges in Bardiya provide excellent accommodation facilities for guests to enjoy wildlife activities. Park headquarters Thakurdwara is approximately an hour's drive away from the Nepalgunj-Surkhet road. The main activities in Bardia National park are Jungle safari on elephant-back, Jungle walk, boat ride, jeep drive etc.
Bardiya National Park Itinerary
Land on TIA and received by our representative and transferred to the hotel.
Day 1 : Departure to Bardiya , arrival at Hotel and Cultural Tour to a Tharu village and visit Elephant breeding center.
Day 2 : Jungle Safari (Chances of seeing Barking Dear, Bear , Blue Cow , Rhinos , and Royal Bengal Tiger)
Day 3 : Daywalk to Karnali River and Elephant Safari.
Day 4: Bird watching and back to Kathmandu.
Transfer to airport for return trip to your desired destination
